Life Science and high level health IT
The ifa group has positioned itself in the medical technology and Health IT sub-category of the life sciences sector.
When performing a web search on "Healthcare Information Technology (HIT)", many different descriptions and definitions will come up. The trade press frequently refers to a study carried out by Dr. B. Chaudhry in 2006. In this study, HIT is defined as follows:
"Health Information Technology (HIT) provides the umbrella framework to describe the comprehensive management of health information across computerized systems and its secure exchange between consumers, providers, government and quality entities, and insurers.
Health Information Technology (HIT) is in general increasingly viewed as the most promising tool for improving the over-all quality, safety, and efficiency of the health delivery system."
Besides the traditional applications like EHR (Electronic Health Record) and VNA (Vendor Neutral Archives), ifa is focusing on life science represented by CDSS (Clinical Decision Support Systems) and telemedicine projects.
